St Mary’s AFC v’s Douglas HallĀ  Mary’s win 3-1

Our seniors had a fantastic and very important win tonight in front of a big crowd at Mary’s Park in the first game in the relegation ‘Round Robin’ play off.

Mary’s started the game well and took the lead when Johnny Walsh finished from close range after Eoin Collins’ free kick fell to him in the box. Mary’s had chances to increase the lead in the frist half but could not convert them. The defence withstood some Douglas Hall pressure to see us go in 1 nil up at the short whistle.

Mary’s began the second half very well and soon went 2 up when Wayne McBride finished from inside the box. Mary’s continued to press and troubled Douglas Hall regularly. This pressure paid off when Wayne McBride got on the end of Eoin Collins’ pass too shoot past the keeper to the net, making it 3 nil.

Douglas Hall to their credit never gave up and got a deserved goal with 10 minutes to go. However, Marys’ held on fairly comfortably for the remainder of the game to run out 3-1 winners.

The pressure now falls on Douglas Hall and Rockmount to play on Friday night next with Mary’s sitting on 3 points.

Well done to Ken & the lads on a great win. Well deserved.
